The story of Lindberg
by Mathias Stering on Sep 07, 2022
Founded by architect Henrik Lindberg and his father, optician Poul-Jørn Lindberg in 1986, LINDBERG personifies Danish design. Poul-Jørn had for several years run his own optician's office together with his wife in Aarhus, Denmark, but was frustrated by how heavy the frames were that then dominated the glasses market. The solution to the problem was to invent a revolutionary new product ourselves - Air Titanium glasses. These extremely light and durable frames became a world first and spurred them to start their eyewear design brand LINDBERG.
Each pair of LINDBERG frames is an example of world-class Danish design imbued with discretion, classic elegance and carefully considered simplicity. Each product is created with minimalist elegance, completely without screws, rivets or welded parts. Over the years, LINDBERG has won countless prestigious international design awards for its unique products.
In terms of quality, there is no brand on the market that comes up to LINDBERG's extremely high level. A big reason is that they work exclusively with the best possible sustainable materials in their frames, which include high quality and responsibly sourced titanium, acetate, platinum, gold, diamonds and buffalo horn. Each bow is made to order and engraved with a unique ID number.
The use of lightweight titanium has become synonymous with LINDBERG frames. Titanium is the world's most durable material in terms of density, and is, for example, three times stronger and 40% lighter than steel. The material is extremely flexible and helps to adjust the frames to a perfect individual fit.
LINDBERG has always stuck to its belief in a blend of uncompromising attention to detail, the best possible material choices, patented technology and individual craftsmanship to create ultralight bows of the utmost world class.
