The story of Sato
by Mathias Stering on May 29, 2024
Inspired by the distinct aesthetics of the 90s, SATO reinterprets the codes of the past with the era's decadent originality, eccentricity and wildly sophisticated spirit. SATO as a brand is one like a bold and shocking cocktail with sophisticated taste and elegant balance. SATO has a focus on the future but at the same time celebrates the beaten path we all come from. They both celebrate and twist the codes we love from the past decade.
Each collection from Sato is based on a unique source of inspiration, and the handmade frames from Japan underline the architectural obsession with the details of each model. Sato wants to create creations that are chic with a touch of opulence, and that are worn by those people who love to be unique.
Sato's sunglasses take inspiration from the 90s era with Kate Moss, Calvin Klein, Alaïa, all with iconic style and independent personalities . Sources of inspiration that all define style as much as personality. More than just an accessory, Sato's frames take the iconic aesthetics of the past and modernize them. Whether you're looking for a sophisticated and understated look or a bold and daring expression, Sato is something you absolutely must try.
Handmade in Fukui, Japan
Pushing the boundaries of excellence, Sato manufactures all of its glasses in the Fukui province of Japan, which has long been the home of the world's best glass manufacturing. The area's local craft masters are constantly and in unison celebrated for their unparalleled knowledge, traditions, skills and precision . Although the Japanese factories have their history and reputation to lean on, Fukui's most respected artisans and producers work constantly to ensure their leading position by constantly pushing for new breakthroughs and discoveries .
Fukui's artisans are extremely selective when it comes to which brands get to share their expertise and place great importance on the owners' respect for materials, craftsmanship, quality, and traditions. All independent eyewear brands with ambitions to produce products of the absolute highest quality want to manufacture their eyewear in Fukui, but only a few get that opportunity, and Sato is one of the lucky few who have been accepted. Sato has invested the necessary time and effort to build strong relationships with Fukui's most respected producers , which in turn helps to guarantee the production of his glasses of the absolute highest quality.
Limited production
Each pair of Sato reflects a craftsmanship of utmost expertise , a passion for detail and a quest for absolute refinement. Sato is an uncompromising bridge between the past and the future, in a quest for function, durability, comfort, focus on details and beauty. Each frame is manufactured today in a way of working where the traditions of the craftsmen of the previous generations are respected and live on while they emphasize the architectural innovation of the sunglasses .
Sato places extreme emphasis on detail and tackles the most prestigious materials, such as titanium and platinum. Each collection has been designed to accentuate the arch and accentuate the wearer's facial features. Each bow from Sato is engraved with its unique number in a limited edition of only 400 copies and comes with a metal authentication card.
